The Center for Advanced Aeronautical Manufacturing (CFAA) of the UPV/EHU has participated for the last 4 years in the TASTE project for the manufacture of aerodynamic components that are integrated into the test bench demonstrator of a new compressor design. The project has been a success and the CFAA has trained in the manufacturing of aeronautical compressor rigs and has developed advanced instrumentation for turbine testing. All the advances and developments have materialized in the manufacture of a prototype for testing on a test bench.
In this last year of the project, the CFAA has worked on the development of alternative technologies for the manufacture of blades and openings combining additive and subtractive technologies, has collaborated with other project partners to define the measurement and quality control procedures and has coordinated the final stages of manufacturing the prototype.
The main objective of this project is to advance the development of key aerodynamic technologies that allow us to meet the fundamental objectives of achieving the environmental milestones set by the EU through ACARE – Advisory Council for Aviation Research and Innovation in Europe – and endorsed by the Government of Spain through the “Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy 2013-2020”.
These actions are part of the R&D&i project reference RTC2019-007194-4 with the acronym TASTE: AERODYNAMIC TECHNOLOGIES FOR GEARED TURBOFANES, financed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the State Research Agency (MCIN/ AEI/10.13039/501100011033 /)
