CFAA

The Aeronautics Advanced Manufacturing Center (CFAA) was created as a new model of relationship between different research levels and nowadays industry applications. This center was promoted and funded by the Department of Economy development and Infrastructure of the Basque Country Government, Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the launching was supported by the frame of the Technological and Scientific Park of Bizkaia. This Center is built as a mixed research center within the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and a consortium of companies, the aim is to work towards final applications and to generate new know-how in advanced manufacturing technologies.

The tasks done at the center are oriented to work and develop the ‘Manufacturing Readiness Levels’ 6-7 where validation tests in representative environments are required.

General objectives

The CFAA seeks to promote the development of expeditiously applicable manufacturing technologies for both the partner companies of the project and the general industry.

This approach aims to advance current levels of technological development associated in the sphere of universities (MRL, Manufacturing Readiness Levels 2 to 5) to levels of technological readiness in sufficiently representative environments (MRL levels 6 to 8), which are closer to the production needs of companies. The applicability of knowledge is particularly significant to this project and centre.
